こんにちは、ジェブスです。今年の9月でタリサイ市立大学の電子工学専攻3年生になります。9人家族で父はセキュリティガード、母はお菓子の露天商をしてなんとか生活しています。ぼくにはいつも長男としての大きなプレッシャーがつきまといます。支払いのやりくりや、家族の日々の生活に必要なものを揃えること、兄弟の勉強の面倒をみることなどなど。

奨学生になることができて通学にまつわる心配は軽減されました。ぼくを支えてくれる人たちがいることにも気づくことができて、本当に感謝しています。ぼくも地域に貢献しようと思い、日曜日の礼拝ではギターを弾いています。大学卒業後はすぐに就職し収入を得て家族の生活を支え、兄弟の進学を支えたいです。お金をためて、いつか海外で働くことがぼくの夢です！

I am Javez, 21 years old, and I am currently studying at Talisay City College taking up a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology majoring in Electronics. We are 9 in the family, and I am the eldest of our siblings. My father’s job is as a security guard and my mother is a seller of rice cakes. Being the eldest, sometimes I feel pressure, especially when my parents don’t have enough money. Since I am the eldest, It gives me pressure thinking about my responsibilities, like needing to help my parents to pay the bills, provide for our daily living, and also to assist my siblings with their studies. Being one of the scholars in HALOHALO and Tulay Sa Kinabuhi Pay it Forward Scholarship helps me with paying for my school fees, projects, transportation fares and it gives me a little extra allowance. By these, I am very much grateful to the people that God has provided, who became instruments in helping me and other students. It means a lot to me since my family does not have that much income. As my way of paying back, I am part of the Praise and Worship Ministry, where I play as a lead guitarist. My future plans after I graduate is to find a job that will allow me to save money in preparation to work abroad and also to help my family in providing for their daily needs, supporting my younger siblings and for me to become financially stable.

港区からエシカルなライフスタイルを広げる港区エシカルコミュニティ・グループには2025年現在8名のメンバーがいます。フィリピン、ラオスなどの社会的に弱い立場にある人とつながり活動する人もいれば、日本でダイバーシティに取り組む人もいますし、活動する人の応援がしたい！と集まっている人もいます。

そんな「わたしのエシカルな取り組み」を共有しあうことを大切にしていて、年に1,2回のお茶会が活動の中心です。

ここ数年、港区の児童高齢者交流所となっている三田いきいきプラザの催事協力することもあり、3月にはフィリピンのバナナとコーヒーを試食しながら文化に触れるお茶会も開催しました。そしてフェアトレード月間となる5月には、ちょっと遠出して、神奈川のアサバアートスクエアでのランチ会があります、ご関心ある方はお申し込みください。
